Audio Recording Tip

DC offset is an offsetting of a signal from zero. DC offset is usually undesirable. For example, in audio processing, a sound that has DC offset will not be at its loudest possible volume when normalized (because the offset consumes), and this problem can possibly extend to the mix as a whole, since a sound with DC offset and a sound without DC offset will have DC offset when mixed. It may also cause other artifacts depending on what is being done with the signal. After a recording and before mixing use your DAW's DC offset correction feature to minimize impact. DC offset can be reduced in real-time by a one-pole one-zero High-pass filter. When one already has the entire waveform, subtracting the mean amplitude from each sample will remove the offset.

Recording

BASS will capture your sound. BASS is fully outfitted with the best gear and techniques to truthfully and accurately capture your message. Regardless of whether you are recording for Broadcast, Pod Cast, Distributed Media (CD, DVD or Tape), or just for archival purposes, our mission holds true. Our staff includes certified operators on digital platforms and seasoned broadcast vets with years of experience in the trenches. There is no challenge too big or project too small for our complete attention. In addition to being able to record you in the space of your choosing, BASS has partnered with two (2) professional recording studios in San Francisco, CA and Richmond, CA.

  • In our San Francisco, CA location we feature two (2) isolation booths and a magnificent 20' x 25' live room with a 13' ceiling. The air-conditioned control room, with hardwood floors, comfortably fits up to 6 people. The centerpiece is a Sony DMX 1000 mix console fully patched to Digidesign ProTools. This is the perfect solution for recording bands or large groups.

  • Our Richmond, CA location features a large sound-isolated room suitable for up to 6 people and the sound engineer. This location is ideal for individual tracking, pre-recording content for broadcast, and roundtable style recording. This room is Digidesigne Pro Tools 8.3 Equiped

Editing

BASS uses the latest in Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) to digitally capture your sound and edit it to perfection. We will help you sound your best. Very few companies can say they have a Digidesign Certified Pro Tools operator on staff. We can! Using technology, we can clean up and restore problem audio. By compositing multiple takes, we will create your perfect take. Time-based effects like delay and reverb, as well as EQing, Vocal Tuning, Timing correction and special effects can be applied during the editing process. We accept a wide variety of digital audio formats for editing.

Commercials

Bass produces great ads. From original backing music to innovative copy, we produce ear-catching spots. With over 25 years in commercial production, we will work with you to produce the an ad that fills your specific needs. We specialize in PSA's and ads for broadcast, but don't forget to add your commercial to your web presence to maximize your investment. Our spots can be made YouTube & E-mail ready.

Music

BASS will provide your music with the punch it needs. We specialize in sound design, composition, mixing, and audio signal processing. With a fully stocked studio of virtual instruments, sound/ sample libraries, outboard gear, MIDI and live instruments, as well as talented musicians, our combined imagination is the limit. Whether you need a Demo produced, original bumper music, theme music or backing tracks (beats, horns, etc.), BASS is the answer.

Post Production

If you have ever seen a kung fu movie, you know what a bad dub can do to a good movie. BASS can add that extra something special to your special occasion video or short film. By professionally processing your audio, your event can come to life, both on the screen and via your speakers. BASS will use tools such as alternate takes, audio restoration, and non linear editing to replace those misplaced feet with professional quality momentos.
